Lehrform

The course will be a combination of lectures, case work, presentations, interactive class discussion and exercises using simulation software @Risk in combination with MS Excel.

"Innovation Control" will be a workshop.

This module comprises a combination of business modelling and simulation on the one hand side and innovation control on the other side.

Monte Carlo Business Modelling: Measuring Return and Risk, Stochastic Probability Distributions, Value Drivers in Analytical Business Modelling, Monte Carlo Simulation, Analyzing and Visualizing Results, Selected Issues of Analytical Business Modelling and Simulation

Innovation Control: Innovation, Innovation Management, Control Cycle for Innovation, Design Thinking, KPIs, Business Models, Business Model Innovation, Business Case as a Planning Tool for Innovation, Agile Business Design

Qualifikationsziele

Monte Carlo Business Modelling:

Students know how to find and structure value drivers of a company. They know how to set up a model to forecast future development of key figures. They can build stochastic models to deal with uncertain future outcomes. Students know how to use Monte Carlo simulation techniques to evaluate various economic issues and how to analyze and visualize the results of a Monte Carlo simulation.

Innovation Control: After studying this module the students are able to plan, implement, monitor and control innovation processes in an agile business environment. The students know the relevant tools and they are able to apply the latter (methodological competence). They can interpret the data which are processed and use it for their decision-making with regard to the innovation process.
