Lehrform
  • Group/plenary discussions: Course participants discuss current issues in HRM based on selected readings
  • Role plays: Students practise how to provide feedback to employees
  • Short lectures: The lecturer provides a short topic overview and/or presents main theories, concepts and principles
  • Readings: For many topics there are chapters from the module text books and some additional readings
  • Worked examples and problems: Application of the module materials is reinforced using mini-cases, problems and examples
  • Case studies: Students prepare short case assignments; students will be asked questions relating to the case and are expected to present their arguments and reasoning

Lecture slides are in ppt format; where appropriate, guest lectures and AV material will be used.

  1. English language skills for Human Resources Managers: Training of speaking and writiking skills for HRM-related settings; training of reading comprehension skills on the basis of module materials (textbook and additional readings); training of presentation skills for academic and professional purposes
  2. Human resources management in globalising firms: The multi-national corporation; strategic options for internationalisation; HRM implications of an internationalisation strategy

The aims of the module are:

  • to enable course participants to communicate in English in different HRM-related settings
  • to enable students to spell out an internationalisation strategy and to foresee the major HRM implications of such a strategy
