Lecture, group discussion, simulation

International Business Environment (engl.):

Lectures The basic principles, concepts and theories will be presented during lectures. 

Readings There are chapters from the main textbooks and some additional readings which support the concepts presented in the lectures.

Worked examples and problems Application of the course concepts is reinforced using mini-cases, problems and examples.

Case Studies Students prepare case assignments prior to the scheduled case discussion. Students will be asked questions relating to the case and are expected to present their arguments and reasoning.

Seminars Students may be responsible for preparing and delivering seminars on specific strategic issues in international business.

Essay Students produce an academic essay based on one of the module topic areas.

In an increasingly complex world, understanding the dynamics and velocity of the business environment is a key skill set that managers must develop.

The module will cover the following broad areas:

Uncertainty and Resource munificence

Context analysis and issue framing

Links to strategy development and strategic decision making

The aim of the module is to critically explore current and emerging trends and issues in the international business context and to understand how they are affecting, and will affect, international business organisations.

After successfully completing the module the student will be able to:

1. critically analyse and evaluate trends and issues

2. understand the holistic nature of the business context

3. apply tools which help the strategist to manage complexity and uncertainty.
