The Master thesis draws upon the scientific knowledge gained during the Master degree programme. The suitability of the thesis topic (field of enquiry) is approved by the Faculty Examinations Committee.

Qualifikationsziele

The purpose of the Master thesis is to enable the student to develop further their knowledge, understanding and capabilities in the context of the International Management degree programme. The thesis is written at the end of the programme and offers the opportunity for scientific enquiry, as well as the application and synthesis of knowledge acquired at the Bachelor and Master level.

The overall aim of the thesis is for the student to demonstrate the knowledge and capabilities required for independent thinking as a Master of Arts in International Management.

After successful completion of the Master thesis the student should be able to demonstrate the following learning outcomes:

• an in-depth knowledge of a subject/field of study, including current research

• a comprehensive knowledge of research methods relevant to the subject/field of study

• a capability to research independently

• the ability to think and reflect holistically, critically, independently and creatively

• to identify, structure, and manage complex issues

• the capability to manage a reseach project

• the capability to analyse and evaluate data and information

• the integration of sustainable development issues into the research as appropriate

• the ability to integrate third parties and stakeholders into the project as appropriate

• sensitivity towards the cultural and ethical aspects of research in international management

• the ability to demonstrate the environmental, social and economic consequences of the research

• the ability to present pragmatic and pratical solutions wihich add value to practicing managers in international management

• the capability to clearly present, defend and discuss the dissertation's conclusions and their implications for international management

The required total number of credits as defined in the examination and study regulations must be achieved before the Master thesis can be registered.
