Lehrinhalte/Gliederung
  • Introduction to hydrogeology and groundwater management
  • Managed aquifer recharge techniques: Bank filtration, infiltration basins, infiltration wells
  • Feasibility studies and site investigation
  • Parameter estimation (grain size analysis, pumping test, clogging)
  • Bankfiltration: Design and operation, flow and transport modeling, water quality, monitoring
  • Infiltration basins: Design and operation, flow modeling
  • Infiltration wells: Design and operation
  • Case studie, excursion to a MAR site
  • Groundwater flow and transport modeling project
Qualifikationsziele

Students will understand the basics of hydrogeology, groundwater management and MAR. They will be able to plan site investigations and to determine parameters for calculations. They will learn the principles of groundwater flow and transport modeling with specifics for MAR systems. They will be able to carry out a site assessment for a potential MAR system, to design the infiltration and abstraction scheme and to develop a monitoring and operation program. They will do a groundwater flow and transport modeling project for a MAR site.
