Directed Study:

The basic principles, concepts and theories will be presented during lectures. Occasionally handouts will be distributed covering specific topics. Students are expected to supplement and support the lecture material with their own readings to solve case studies and hold presentations as well as interacting in project teams.


Self Study:

Autonomous study will include reading assignments and initial research as well as solving case studies and holding presentations.

Directed study
  • Riding the waves of culture - Theoretical approaches to and practical implications of business culture classification
  • The impact of culture on business relations; can it be managed pro-actively?
  • How to manage culture in a multinational corporation
  • Can business culture go wrong? Corruption, fraud and other business misfeatures

Qualification objectives
The students acquire knowledge of financial characteristics of European-wide business activity. They get acquainted with transnational Cash Management Systems as well as with corresponding problems related to interests and currency. The culture aspect offers insights into business customs, habits and values that shape the way how business is done in different parts of Europe.

Directed Study: Overheads from the lectures will be made available to students and project groups. Self Study: Students are expected to do research with the client, in the library and on the internet in order to provide the necessary information base for the project as well as for the case studies and discussions.

The module "Business Europe II" represents the second part of the major "Business Europe". The first part
  • the module "Business Europe I"
  • is taught in the winter semester.
    Lectures are supported and complemented with case studies and guest speakers. Live project with a client in Dresden / Saxony who wishes to develop their business in Europe.
    The module is partly taught in English (50% English/50% German).
