  • Objectives, characteristics and structures of Non-Profit-Organisations (NPO)
  • Definition of NPOs, legal and tax aspects of NPOs,
  • NPOs and Civil Society, NPOs and Capacity Building
  • Scientific view on different kind of NPOs (International, national, local NPOs
  • public serving/member serving)
  • Organizational Behavior and Leadership of NPOs
  • Management Systems and Instruments in NPOs (Performance Manage-ment, Human Resources, Controlling, Marketing, Public Affairs, Financing/Fund Raising)
  • Presentation and analysis of several NPOs
  • Future developments of NPOs and Social Enterprises
Qualification objectives
Non-Profit-Organisations (NPOs) are specific organisations with specific goals within a specific environment. The objectives of this course are therefore
  • to raise the student´s awareness of the specifics of NPOs
  • to transfer basic knowledge of Management of NPOs (technical skills)
  • to show different organizational forms of NPOs and actual requirements
  • to built practical skills for designing of and handling of management processes in NPOs (conceptual/social skills)
    At the end of the module students
  • will have developed a deeper understanding of the increasing role of the Non-Profit-Sector
  • will have developed a richer and more complex representation of NPO-Management and of the actual requirements of Managers of NPOs
  • will have understood how different NPOs function and how specific management situations in NPOs can be handled
