Das Modul behandelt

  • historische Entwicklung und Zustand verschiedener Typen europäischer Kulturlandschaften
  • Schutz wertvoller Bereiche und Ausgleich von Defiziten im Hinblick auf Umwelt und Lebensqualität
  • Aspekte des rechtlich-institutionellen Rahmens auf europäischer, nationaler, regionaler, lokaler Ebene
  • Programme und Instrumente von Schutz, Erhaltung, Planung, Entwicklung und Management von Kulturlandschaften

Betrachtung exemplarischer Gebiete und Projekte – zum Teil auch vergleichend – im Hinblick auf

  • Natur- und Ressourcenschutz wie z.B. NATURA 2000 und Wasserrahmenrichtlinie, UNESCO-Status
  • Siedlung und Infrastruktur, Gartenbau, Land- und Forstwirtschaft, Bergbau und andere Landnutzungen
  • Bildung, Erholung Tourismus, historische, kulturelle und spirituelle Elemente
  • Erhaltung und Transformation von Wirtschaftsformen und Landschaftselemente
  • Zusammenwirken von Akteuren bei Zielformulierung, Beteiligung, Entscheidung und Umsetzung.

Forschung und Lehre mit Bezug zur Landschaft an Partnerhochschulen dient dazu, die Studierenden auf Perspektiven internationaler akademischer wie professioneller Berufspraxis aufmerksam zu machen. Zusätzliche Themen werden abhängig vom Charakter der untersuchten Regionen behandelt.

 

Content / Structure

The module contains the following aspects:

  • historic development and state of different types of cultural landscapes in Europe
  • protection of valuable areas and reconciliation of deficits in environment and quality of life
  • aspects of the legal and institutional framework on European, national, regional and local level
  • programmes and instruments for the protection and conservation, planning, development and management of cultural landscapes.

Studies of exemplary regions and projects – in part also comparative - regarding aspects of

  • nature conservation and protection of resources e.g. NATURA 2000, Water Framework Directive, UNESCO-status
  • settlement and infrastructure, horticulture, agriculture, forestry, mining or other land uses
  • education, recreation and tourism, historic cultural amd spiritual elements
  • conservation and transformation of land use practices and landscape elements
  • interplay of stakeholders in developing goals, participation, decision-making and implementation.

Landscape related research and teaching at partner universities visited serves to draw students’ attention to perspectives of international academic and professional practice. Additional topics will be dealt with depending upon the character of regions studied.
Qualifikationsziele

Die Studierenden entwickeln ein Verständnis für ökologische, ökonomische, kulturelle und soziale Faktoren der Entwicklung von Kulturlandschaften und deren Zusammenhang. Die Studierenden kennen internationale, nationale und regionale Ziele, Kategorien und Programme zu Schutz und nachhaltiger Entwicklung von Kulturlandschaften sowie darauf bezogene Planungsinstrumente, –methoden und Institutionen. Private, öffentliche gemeinnützige und ehrenamtliche Akteure werden als Partner bei der Erhaltung und Entwicklung von Kulturlandschaften erkannt. Ziele, Konflikte und Lösungen werden sowohl für wertvolle als auch degradierte Landschaften thematisiert, angemessene Formen der Partizipation in Planung, Gestaltung und Management als Grundlage ganzheitlicher und langfristiger nachhaltiger und sozial verantwortlicher Entwicklung anerkannt.

Es wird erwartet, dass die Studierenden Fach- und Methodenkenntnisse aus bisher studierten Feldern einbringen und individuell und in Teams ein angemessenes Niveau selbstbestimmter Recherchen und Reflexion erreichen. Sie kommunizieren erfolgreich ihre Argumente im akademischen wie nicht-akademischen Kontext verbal, grafisch und schriftlich. Die Berichte werden in einem angemessenen akademischen und fachsprachlichen Standard in englischer bzw. deutscher Sprache erarbeitet.

 

Educational Aims

Students develop an understanding of the ecological, economic, cultural and social factors for the development of cultural landscapes, and their interdependence. Students know international, national and regional aims, categories and programmes for the protection and sustainable development of cultural landscapes as well as related planning instruments, methods and institutions. Private, public non-profit and voluntary stakeholders are seen as partners for landscape conservation and development. Aims, conflicts and solutions are considered for valuable as well as for degraded landscapes, appropriate forms of participation in planning, design and management acknowledged as base for a holistic and long-term sustainable and socially responsible development.

This module is based on students’ knowledge of analytical and conceptual work in the fields they have studied before. Students are expected to bring in content and method-specific knowledge from their previous studies and, individually and in teams, prove an adequate level of self-guided research and reflection. In an academic and non-academic context they successfully communicate their arguments verbally, graphically and in writing. Reports are presented in an adequate academic standard and technical terminology in English and German.

Im Seminar und auf den Studienreisen werden

- individuelle Kenntnisse und Interessen erweitert und in die Teamarbeit eingebracht,

- Kompetenzen in Selbstorganisation und Projektmanagement gemeinsam entwickelt

- Erfahrungen mit Kommunikation und Projektdokumentation gesammelt.
