- Introduction to the climate system
- Historic CC: tectonic, orbital, glacial-deglacial changes
- Recent changes in climate in the context of historic changes
- Climate modelling and climate predictions
- Adaptation and mitigation
- Climate change and politics, the UN World Climate Conference, IPCC-Reporting
- Influence of climate, weather and vegetation on the stability of earth structures
- Effects of extreme weather conditions on the strength and deformability of subsoil
- Problematic soils for foundations of structures or earth works – case studies

Qualifikationsziele

- Being able to evaluate the challenges of climate change
- Knowing and understanding relevant aspects of historic, present and future climate change
- Knowledge and understanding the impact of climate change on the environment and the respective adaptation and mitigation measures
- Applying and evaluating appropriate instruments and strategies in civil engineering
- Knowing the international political framework
